"…Hiccup? Could it be?"
Hi-res image of my Valka cosplay from this weekend’s Fan Expo!
I’m really proud of this costume and happy with how it turned out. The minute I saw Valka I just KNEW I had to cosplay her. I was dying of heat in that thing but it was worth it for the accuracy! And oh my goodness do I LOVE this photo!

FAN EXPO COMES TO AN END

Today was the last day of Fan Expo! Sad that it had to end but also very happy to be home (sleeeeeeeep!).

Big thanks to some of my Tumblr followers for coming to say hi! It was lovely seeing and meeting some of you.

Now prepare for an onslaught of Fan Expo photos over this next week. Valka and Page photos to come. PLUS photos of my Raina cosplay from Agents of SHIELD, which I brought out as a surprise on Saturday evening.

STAY TUNED! :D

some great quote I heard somewhere once upon a time and that is very, very true (via traffic-jam-session)
Whenever I start to work on a story idea and hash it out, I think "this is stupid, this doesn't make sense, why am I bother?" Is it best to scrap the idea and start over?

I get a lot of questions like this.

stupid.  I’m worried this is stupid.

what is stupid?  well, any story can sound stupid.

" a 15-year-old gets bit by, I don’t know, a spider and gets spider powers"

" so these four turtles are teenagers, and mutants, and, uh,  let say ninjas. yeah,  turtles."

" there’s this guy who finds out that, like, the whole world is really a mental hologram that we dream that the robots, like, put in our brains so they can use us as batteries."

what is stupid? that’s the wrong question to ask yourself

ask yourself, and be honest:  would I buy this story if I saw it on the shelf? does this story mean anything to me? when I close my eyes can I see this world? do I hear these voices?

if the answer is yes then I think it’s your obligation to pursue the story. don’t worry if it’s ‘stupid.’

some of the best stories ever told can sound stupid. also some of the stupidest :-)

'there is a fine line between genius and stupid'- said a great musician

but if you have a real point of view and a real reason for telling them. if the characters are believable and relatable…

So I work as a preschool teacher and a lot of the little kids love Spider-Man but none of them knew anything about Miles Morales. Today I brought in my trade paperback and showed them some pictures and it was so amazing to see the little boys see a spider-man who looked like them for once! The girls were mesmerized as well. I'm glad we have a character like Miles and I hope we have many more characters that girls and boys can identify with and look up to!

I wish you weren’t anonymous so I could more sincerely celebrate you and this lovely note. thank you. this is no little thing to me. this is everything.

there are also plenty of female characters for your female students to discover. my girls have gravitated to quite a few graphic novels.
